there are plenty of countries who have seen better growth than we have at various periods over the years

they are among the "emerging markets" so that doesnt surprise me at all as they are a smaller nation with nothing but growth potential

my point was to show that over the last 40 years we have had times of war more than once and that war hasnt necessarily been a bad thing for the economy........that for the mnost part the economy still managed to grow not contract during those times

BWC why dont you show us how war has helped the economy the past 5 years? You cant compare wars of today with WWII. Throwing us in a war these days is a million times more dangerous than back then. These countries like Obama because they know he will be smart and rational when it comes to something like war.

As far as Desert Storm goes, that war did nothing for Bush the first's recession....the same one that ended up helping oust him from office.

Didnt you say in earlier posts though that the Iraqi war hasnt been good for the US economy? Since you decided to stop reading my other post and stopped where I said "weakened economy", you didnt read where I said it can cause strained relationship with allies, possibly gain more enemies, and more importantly than all losing lives on your own and others wherever you are fighting. I guess the money part is the only that matters. The first argument was talking about being a great leader, then you started rambling off on 4 pages of this. so outside of iran, no korea, venezuela and the other nations that hated us prior to this war what other enemies have we made?

as for losing lives.......yes it sucks.....but there is no draft......when you enlist in the military even during peace time you know theres always the chance that you could be at war tomorrow......its the chance you take when you agree to fight for your country

we were attacked once on our own soil and it hasnt happened since despite numerous threats because the world is scared of bush because they know he isnt scared to use the great military we have here
